Does Apple Cider Vinegar Really Cure Gout?

Apple Cider VinegarGout can be pretty painful. With sudden, excruciating burning sensations accompanied by pain and swelling in the joint and toes, it can be hard to live and enjoy your life the way you want to.

What do you do when your big toe is throbbing and feels like it is about to explode?

Perhaps a bunch of medications to ease out the symptoms, but with attached side effects?

Since tens and thousands of years, herbal remedies have been used to cure most medical conditions. Babylonians considered vinegar as having amazing healing properties. Even Hippocrates used vinegar as an antibiotic about 3000 years ago. Apple cider vinegar is known to cure gout the natural way. Although there is no scientific evidence to prove that it helps gout, The Arthritis Foundation calls vinegar a “harmless, but unproven, arthritis remedy”.

Why Apple Cider Vinegar?

Gouty arthritis can be cured with vinegar, but you might be wondering how, since vinegar is acidic after all.

Well, what makes apple cider vinegar different to other vinegar is that it has malic acid. Malic acid can actually dissolve uric acid that gathers at the joints, and expel it from the body. Along with malic acid, apple vinegar also has potassium that is known to remove toxic waste and excess water. Moreover, it also has amino acids that reduce the toxic levels in your system and acts as an antibiotic.

So if the slightest touch makes you shriek in agony, then try apple cider vinegar to reduce the inflammation and throbbing sensations. It can also greatly reduce the swelling and make the joints more flexible. While some of you might feel the vinegar does a wonder in a few hours, others might be relieved in a few days.

There are a few ways in which you can use apple cider vinegar to treat your gout:

Gout Foot/Hand Bath

Combine 1/2 to 1 cup apple cider vinegar with about 4 cups hot water. Soak your gout affected areas for at least 30 minutes, a few times a day.

Topical Treatment

Saturate a clean cloth in undiluted apple cider vinegar and wrap it around the affected area for 15 minutes to an hour. Do not wrap it too tightly though.

Apple Cider Vinegar Drink

Take an 8 ounce glass of water and add 2 teaspoons of honey along with 2 of teaspoons organic apple cider vinegar. You might feel disgusted, but if you want to get rid of your gouty pain, then gulp it down! Have it 3 times a day for a few days in moderation and notice the difference in your gout. The drink might not be suitable for everyone.

If you are allergic to apples then you should just consider topical application or a foot bath. Be careful not to consume the drink excessively as it might affect your stomach.

Apple cider vinegar can be very effective in relieving gout symptoms for many people. Try it out today and share your experiences if you notice any relief.
